I wanted to take a dive into the world of Lottie with Webflow, and the pre-loader seemed a good place to start. It quickly became apparent that it's actually not as complicated as I thought... so I kept adding to it and explore and exploring. After a bit of said exploration, this is the result of V1.0 of the boot sequence for the site.
I'll be the first to acknowledge it's a little wierd for a pre-loader. I think it works for an inital load in, but ideally page transitions are happening faster than it takes for this sequence to play through. Regardless, it was fun and good to know about Lottie. I'm still working on putting out all the 'oh shit, I can't beleive that's still wrong on my site' fires, but coming up with a more appropriate and simplified loader is definitely on the short list of things to do.
From here, I'm definitely hoping to add more micro interactions and details. The problem is that my site likely doesn't need the DOMs to get any larger.. but.. why not? Time to strap down that laptop– it might take off after I'm done with it's fans.
